The Immortal Tortoise Official Guide to CBD Oils
What is CBD
Cannabidiol, also known as CBD, is a non-psychoactive compound found in cannabis sativa.
Unlike medical marijuana, anyone can buy CBD. By law any product containing less than .3% THC is a “hemp” product. Hemp was recently removed from the Controlled Substances Act and hemp and its extracts, including CBD, are now federally legal in the United States.
Cannabidiol is a “lipid soluble” compound. Simply put, “lipid soluble” means CBD dissolves in oil rather than water. Therefore, oil is the simplest carrier liquid for pure CBD supplements.
Oils and fats are readily absorbed by the intestinal lymphatic system. Carrier oil has been shown to make medicines and herbal supplements more potent by transporting them through the lymphatic system and into the blood stream.
Studies have shown that fats and oil make CBD three times more bioavailable.
Not Just CBD
Our full spectrum phytocannabinoid rich oil contains all the natural terpenes, cannabinoids, and flavonoids found in cannabis sativa including trace amounts of THC. Every Immortal Tortoise product has been extensively tested by a 3rd party lab and those tests are available on our product pages.
Full spectrum oils contain the fragrant terpenes pinene and limonene. Terpenes are the main component of all essential oils.
Hemp derived terpenes contribute to the signature “kind bud” flavor of our premium oil.
Phytocannabinoids are a class of compounds produced by hemp and other plants that interact with the human endocannabinoid system.
Immortal Tortoise CBD oil contains the full spectrum of phytocannabinoids naturally occurring in the hemp plant.
The main phytocannabinoids found in hemp extract include:
- Cannabidiol (CBD)
- Cannabigerol (CBG)
- Cannabinol (CBN)
- Cannabichromene (CBC)
The synergistic combination of cannabinoids is called the “entourage effect,” a term coined by an Israeli cannabis researcher named Raphael Mechoulam in 1999. His research identified the human endocannabinoid system and laid the groundwork for the medical marijuana field as it is known today.
Flavonoids are organic compounds common in plants.
The most common flavonoids found in hemp are beta-sitosterol, apigenin, quercetin.
A cannabis-specific subgroup of flavonoids called cannaflavins are currently being researched.
CBD Oil Dosage
There is currently no scientific consensus about appropriate dosing of CBD.
We have customers who give 10,000mg+ CBD oil to their horses every single day and we also have customers who swear by 10mg of sublingual oil every night.
The best bet is to start low and work your way up until you find a dose that works for you.
Our general rule of thumb is to start with 1 dropper full of 350mg potency Immortal Tortoise CBD oil, which will be about 12mg of CBD. Gradually work your way up to larger doses of CBD oil until you feel relief. Keep in mind that it may take up to two hours to feel the full effects.
CBD Oil Side Effects
The National Center for Biotechnology Information found that CBD was well tolerated across a wide dose range, up to 1500 mg/day (orally), with no reported side effects.
Concerns about potential side effects of CBD oil products should always be discussed with your doctor. Talk to your doctor about any potential interactions between CBD and your medications.
Where to Buy CBD Oil
Don’t just buy CBD oil from the first website you find online!
Even though CBD is not psychoactive and not technically marijuana some online scammers rely on the common anxiety around cannabis products to get away with shady business practices.
Always look for 3rd party lab test results. Offering 3rd party lab testing is legally required to prove that the THC content of these products is below .3%. Any company selling a legitimate CBD product will have 3rd party lab results. Check the lab results for QR codes that verify the test results with the 3rd party lab – make sure the QR code is real. Scan it!
Here at Immortal Tortoise we publish the lab results for our CBD products right on our website.
Watch out for counterfeits. Some online sellers are offering plain hemp seed oil as though it is a CBD product. Hemp seed oil does not contain any CBD. Our products are a full spectrum hemp extract diluted in hemp seed oil, meaning they contain cannabidiol and other phytocannabinoids.
We use hemp seed oil as our carrier oil because it’s profile of terpenes and flavonoids contributes to the quality of “entourage effect” for our products. We are able to custom blend CBD in alternative carrier oils such as grapeseed or fractionated coconut (MCT) oil. Custom oil orders must be requested 3 weeks in advance, minimum order quantities apply.
Another thing to look for in a CBD oil retailer is that the site allows customers to write reviews. CBD is not currently sold on the Amazon platform, so you may have to shop around and check the reviews on a few different sites that sell hemp derived cannabidiol oil and CBD oil drops.
Immortal Tortoise takes pride in producing the highest quality hemp derived CBD oil products and we hope you’ll choose to buy your CBD from us.

You should not put this CBD hemp oil tincture directly into a standard vape. E-liquid is usually a combination of propylene glycol and vegetable glycerine. Our oil is pure hemp extract in a hemp seed carrier oil. Only pens designed specifically to vape essential oils or cannabinoid oils will work.
Immortal Tortoise industrial-hemp derived Oil and Honey Sticks, and the majority of industrial-hemp products on the market, contain a naturally occurring trace amount of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). While it is highly unlikely that one would fail a traditional drug test from using our products, the possibility cannot be ruled out.
